Filmmaker FAQs

How can I submit my film to GIFF?

You can submit your film through FilmFreeway (>About > Submit My Film). Just make sure to carefully read our submission guidelines and submit before the deadline. For further questions about submissions not answered here, please email submit@goldenislesfilmfestival.org.

What types of films are you looking for?

We accept films of all genres, including narrative features, documentaries, short films, and more. As long as the film fits our submission guidelines and criteria, it is eligible for consideration.

How are films selected for the festival?

The films for the festival are typically selected through a submission and review process. Filmmakers from around the world can submit their films to the festival for consideration, and a selection committee made up of experienced film industry professionals will review the submissions and make final decisions on which films will be accepted for screening. The selection process typically takes into account factors such as the quality of the film, its relevance to the festival's theme or focus, and its potential appeal to audiences. The selection committee will typically view each submission in its entirety before making a decision, and will consider feedback from other committee members and outside experts as needed.

Are there special discounts for student filmmakers?
