Submissions must apply through Film Freeway to be officially entered for festival submissions. Be sure to carefully read our submission guidelines and submit before the final deadline.

We accept films of all genres, including narrative features, documentaries, short films, and more. As long as the film fits our submission guidelines and criteria, it is eligible for consideration.

Filmmakers from around the world can submit their films to the festival for consideration, and a selection committee made up of experienced film industry professionals and community members will review the submissions and make final decisions on which films will be accepted for screening. The selection process typically takes into account factors such as the overall story of the film, its relevance to the festival's theme or focus, and its potential appeal to audiences.

The selection committee will view each submission in its entirety before making a decision, and will consider feedback from additional committee members as needed.

Criteria for Student Filmmaker Discount:

All films are eligible for an additional discount on submissions if you are currently enrolled at an accredited institution. Please send us proof (e.g. Student ID or unofficial transcript) of enrollment to submit@goldenislesfilmfestival.org.

Criteria for Georgia Filmmaker Discount:

Films that were produced in the State of Georgia are eligible for a discounted submission fee, given that (a) the film was partially produced in the State of Georgia and (b) the director/producer(s) live in the State of Georgia with proof of Georgia residence. To obtain the discount submission code for Georgia films, please email GA@goldenislesfilmfestival.org with proof of address before submitting.
