Our next pop-up is here! This time we’re showcasing a Feature/Narrative/Drama film from Maui, Hawaii.

Join us on August 5th, 2023, at the SoGlo Brunswick Actors’ Theatre (1413 Newcastle Street, Brunswick, GA 31520) at 3PM as we’ll be screening My Partner, a film by Lance Collins. We’re excited to share this film with you as you will also have a chance to meet special guests from the film!

Film Synopsis: 

Written by Lance D. Collins and directed by Kanaka Maoli filmmaker Keliʻi Grace, the film focuses on the relationship between Edmar, a high-performing Filipino student, and Pili, a Native Hawaiian student-athlete, as they learn that navigating self-growth and teenage love in Hawaiʻi is as complicated as their understanding and love for Hawaiʻi and it’s ever-changing cultural landscape. The relationship between Edmar and Pili is a cinematic instance of the Boy Love genre, a transformative genre that originated in Japan. The genre has spread worldwide primarily through Asia and this is the first time it has been captured through modern moʻolelo, the art of Hawaiian storytelling.
